Dear Prospective Fitness Trainer,
First of all, thanks for taking the time to visit this site.
It’s my hope that you have precisely what I need in a fitness trainer so I can take this page down immediately and put you to work in the fun and rewarding coaching position I have available.
You should have arrived here because you saw my employment ad in the local paper or online that reads like this:
Personal Trainer, $14-25/hr, excellent attitude,
people person, growth/bonus opportunities.
So let me tell you about my company and the coaching position.
My name is Chris Gray and I run a fitness and nutrition personal training center called Punch Kettlebell Gym in Dover, Delaware.
My business is dedicated to helping women and men achieve their health and fitness goals through high level personal training, motivation, accountability, nutrition.
And business is booming!
I'm looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and energetic person to start training some of our current Boot Camps and small group training sessions.
My studio is located on Governors Avenue in Dover, Delaware.
I currently offer what is quickly becoming the future of fitness. Brief, Intense and FUN cardio/strength small group circuit training, boot camps and nutrition support where we educate, motivate and train women, men and teens to improve their health and fitness levels. All clients receive 1 Free Workout so they can experience what “authentic strength” and “intensity” really mean. You will be guiding and motivating them through pre-designed leading edge “never before seen” fitness routines.
If considered for a training position, you’ll first become a Punch Gym Member for one month where each day you will begin by learning the latest, most effective leading edge training techniques now being learned and used by many professional athletes and teams. You will be expected to experience the workouts first hand every day and to learn and study the many different movement patterns that we employ. If learning to train clients in real functional fitness using not only dumbbells and barbells, but kettlebells, sandbags, rocks, ropes, tires, heavy bags, suspension training, medicine balls and much more sounds like it might be fun then you’ve definitely come to the right place.
If hired for this Instructor position you will start at $14 per hour on a 90 day probationary period while you are learning our training methodology and group coaching and customer service techniques. You will never be required to do any selling. After the 90 day probationary period you will revert to the status of a level 2 trainer. As your skill and responsibility escalate, so will your pay. If you show loyalty, dedication, and a desire to achieve your pay scale will quickly reflect your efforts to a $25 dollar per hour or greater level 4 trainer. My gym offers a casual, fun environment, the latest fun training equipment - most not found in gyms elsewhere and the opportunity to learn the inner-workings of a booming Small Group & Boot Camp Training Program.
Oh yeah, I’m also very fair, respectful and appreciative. I like having fun and making money providing highly valuable fitness services and products. You will be compensated fairly, treated fairly and I will
certainly look for ways to pay you more for your efforts if they warrant it. I want someone who enjoys working with people and making a difference in the lives of others...because that’s what we do in my studio.
Tasks You’ll Be Expected To Perform
Energize and motivate a small group of clients (8 or less) through a pre-designed cardio/strength circuit. You will be given the freedom to develop your own style of connecting and motivating clients.
Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, you'll need to track weekly progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets and more on a weekly basis. It will be your job to hold a client accountable to his/her health and fitness program to ensure the best results possible.
Perform Fitness Evaluations: Ideally, you'll have some fitness assessment skills and can test for: body composition, bodyweight, girth measurements, blood pressure, heart rate and various strength and flexibility tests. You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that's a bonus.
Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: This is a huge one. I need you to be able to provide proper instruction, coaching and motivation during the group training session such that every client feels they are one-on-one with a personal trainer. You should have a working knowledge of the human body and understand why certain movements might be causing pain or discomfort and how to modify the movement so that client still accomplishes their goals.
Provide Ongoing Health and Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all of their health and fitness needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide your clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. You'll be provided with educational tools and resources, will be expected to study them and speak about them with your clients. We also spend time covering this in our weekly staff meetings.
Learn and Greet Clients by their Names and learn their Special Needs and Interests based on information you help us gather and maintain. Each client must feel that you know their personal situation. This means studying and updating client profiles every day.
Constantly Seek Ways to Improve the Client Experience. Our clients must not only feel they are receiving the best customer service money can buy, they must actually receive it. Each week you will be expected to report at least one way you improved yourself or improved the client experience. These improvements will be discussed during staff meetings so that all the trainers can immediately implement a higher quality of service.
You will be required to attend weekly training/staff meetings to ensure complete understanding of our comprehensive program and continuously update and refine your skills. A review of the previous weeks training and client specific problems will be addressed at this time.
Required Skills
These are the skills you must already have in order to qualify for this position:

You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally, and deliver clear instructions to the clients. I’ll teach you everything you need to do during a training session, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.
People skills and personality: must LOVE working with people! As mentioned above you must be very comfortable working with people. This is an exciting studio and you must be able to show your clients energy and excitement while working with them.
Health and Fitness Education: No Exceptions you must have a nationally-recognized personal or group training certification (Can-Fit-Pro, ACE, NASM), Kinesiology degree, or Exercise Science degree. You do NOT need a kettlebell certification, we’ll help you get that one.
